About The Author

Nick Davidson

Nick Davidson works as a freelance graphic designer (he designed the cover artwork for Modern Football is Rubbish and Modern Football is STILL Rubbish). Nick studied History and Politics at Warwick University, he then completed an MA in Sociology of Sport at Leicester University’s Centre for Research into Sport and Society.
This is Nick’s second book. In 2002, he wrote Team Shirts to Ticket Stubs: A Visual History of Watford Football Club 1977-2002 which was published by Watford Football Club.
Nick is a lifelong Watford fan and, along with Shaun, plays five-a-side football every Wednesday night. Chasing 18-year-old kids around the football pitch makes him feel very old.

Shaun Hunt

Shaun Hunt works as a manager for a world famous fast food chain. Shaun studied History at Warwick University between 1990–93. Nick and Shaun played in the same football team at university, it took them several months to realise they were actually on the same degree course.
Born and raised in Cornwall, supporting Liverpool was the obvious choice. He is now the assistant manager of Cadbury Athletic under-10s. He plays football for the Spleen Team every Wednesday alongside Nick.

Nick Davidson and Shaun Hunt are going through a midlife crisis as far as football is concerned. Now they’ve reached early middle-age they are wondering what has happened to the beautiful game. Where have all the muddy pitches gone?. They wallow in nostalgia for 3pm Saturday kick-offs and cup upsets and they rant against inflated egos, spiralling salaries and satellite TV. And they wonder about men in tights and gloves.
