Peter Matthews

Peter Matthews has edited the International Athletics Annual from 1984. He has covered most major athletics events over the last 40 years, currently as a television commentator for Sky Sports and the IAAF, having previously contributed to coverage by BBC Radio 1975-85 and ITV 1985-96. He has also announced at major athletics meetings from 1968, including 1970 and 2002 Commonwealth Games, 1994 World Cup, 2003 World Indoor Championships and 2006 European Championships, and worked at seven Olympic Games as commentator or media manager and all outdoor World Championships. A long-time member of the ATFS and Chairman of the NUTS, he has compiled general sports books and is co- publisher with Mel Watman of Athletics International.

Mo Farah became the first British runner tp win a 5000 metres medal when he took gold in the World Championships in Daegu only days after he had won silver in the 10,000 metres. His feat earns him the front cover of Athletics 2012.
Farah will be one of Britain’s leading hopes for a gold medal at the London Olympic Games and Athletics 2012 is vital reading for anyone who wants to follow athletics at the Games.
As usual the annual also contains unrivalled coverage of the events of the previous year as well as chronicling the early events of 2012. It is now in its 60th year.
